Thank you for the suggestion Viktor but I am sticking with a 
side-by-side comparison in an effort to preserve some ordering of the 
sections.

My results are extremely promising but I also found that the code is not 
handling "#else" statements correctly.  I have to alter the code to 
change the conditional stack it maintains.

Maybe later today I'll post the code and new hbextern.ch
